Atelier Primavera
Lampe Vasque
c. 1930
Enameled earthenware ceramic
15.5”H x 13”w x 13”D
A 1930s illuminated vase in crackled cream-colored ceramic with horizontally incised sides, contrasted with a brown overglaze. Produced for Atelier Primavera most likely by C.A.B. (Céramique d‘Art de Bordeaux). Atelier Primavera was sponsored by the French department store Printemps as an experimental concept to produce high quality decorative objects and homewares in multiples, accessible to the growing middle-class. Primavera would differentiate Printemps from its competitors and foster new approaches to design, production and retail. Rewired with ivory silk cord for US outlets.
